Recently, Atlanta has been at the forefront of the rap scene. With the emergence of “snap” music and the “crunk” sound made popular by Lil Jon, D4L, and Dem Franchise Boyz, Atlanta has been able to take over the rap game and open people’s eyes to the Dirty South sound.
Although Atlanta has been able to recreate itself as a rap city, many local artists are unable to gain mainstream recognition. The artists below have stayed true to the southern sound and have gained a following in the Atlanta city limits.
With their local success, it only seems fair for them to be introduced to a mainstream audience.
