About ATLA Music

ATLA  Music serves as a platform for underground artists in the South and on the West Coast. ATLA bridges the gap between the “snap” rap music coming out of Atlanta with the “hyphy”, “gangsta” and “latin” rap that evolved from the West Coast.

I am from Atlanta but I currently live in Los Angeles. While in LA, I am unable to hear my favorite local artists or get to know the new artists coming out of Atlanta, because Los Angeles radio stations do not play local Atlanta music. I also find myself listening to West Coast music that I never get to hear at home because Atlanta does not play local West Coast artists.

While many local artist have a following in their state, because of different regional sounds of music, their tracks sometimes do not make it out of the city limits. There needed to be a place where listeners can be introduced to different genres or rap music without depending on their radio stations, that is why I created ATLA. I wanted to bridge the gap between rap music from the cities of the ATL and LA.

I began be calling Atlanta and Los Angeles radio stations to see what artists who have been making an impact in their city and in the rap game. I wanted to know who the most requested local artists were, who where gaining a large following in the community, and who they feel needs a little help to get mainstream recognition. The artists on ATLA Music met that criteria, and have gained a profile spot on this site.

ATLA Music profiles local hip-hop artists in Atlanta and in the West Coast hoping to, no only create artist recognition on a more national level, but to allow the different regions to experience rap on many levels.

Music is universal…and because of ATLA, rap is too
